Brandon Alarcon, Gilroy, California

Gilroy, California – The Hollister and Gilroy communities are mourning the loss of three young lives following a tragic car accident on January 14, 2025, just before 7 p.m.

Brandon Alarcon, 18, Victor Lujan, 17, and Anzhel Villegas-Lemus, 17, were killed when the vehicle they were traveling in lost control on Shore Road, west of Lake Road, and collided with an oncoming car.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is continuing to investigate the incident, which involved at least three vehicles. Two rear-seat passengers, including the victims, were fatally injured in the crash, while other individuals sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Esther Lujan, the great-grandmother of Victor Lujan, visited the site to honor his memory, sharing, “Tomorrow is his birthday. He was going to turn 18. I’m very shocked… just couldn’t believe it when the officer said he didn’t make it.”

The San Benito High School District expressed condolences, acknowledging the devastating impact on the students, staff, and the broader community. Hollister High School Principal Kevin Medeiros also shared his sorrow, stating, “These are my kids here… I love all the kids that go to this school, so hearing the news and something this devastating was really hard.”

Details regarding memorial services will be shared by the families soon.
