Duluth, Minnesota – Chris Locker, a former ice hockey star and beloved coach from Duluth, Minnesota, has tragically passed away at the age of 47.
Locker, known for his exceptional skills as a forward during his time at Duluth East High School, was a key figure in Minnesota high school hockey. He made history alongside his teammate, Dave Spehar, forming one of the most dynamic duos in the state’s hockey history, breaking records for the most combined points by two teammates.
His contributions to the sport extended well beyond his playing career. After graduating, Locker transitioned into coaching, mentoring numerous young athletes and guiding them both on and off the ice. His coaching philosophy centered around sportsmanship, teamwork, and resilience, making him a respected figure in the hockey community.
“Chris was more than just a teammate; he was a brother,” said Dave Spehar, reflecting on their years together on and off the ice. “The memories we created will stay with me forever.”
