Cooney, a dedicated mother, wife, and artist, was a beloved figure in the online art world. Through her YouTube channel, The Art Sherpa, she introduced art to countless beginners, creating a space where creativity was celebrated and everyone, regardless of skill level, could learn and grow.
Born on July 1, 1970, Cooney’s vibrant and approachable teaching style helped her amass over 745,000 subscribers. Her tutorials, which ranged from beginner-friendly to more advanced techniques, were infused with warmth and encouragement, making art accessible to all.
Cooney is survived by her husband, John Cooney, and their three children, Honey (20), Spider Jack (14), and Luna Bella (12). Her mother, renowned artist Ginger Cook, also paid tribute to her, describing Cinnamon as "the kind of daughter every parent dreams of having—smart, funny, kind, and so full of love for her family and community."
The news of her passing has been met with an outpouring of tributes. One follower shared, “Cinnamon taught me more than just how to paint—she taught me to believe in myself and embrace my creativity.”
In the wake of her passing, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support her family, as her YouTube channel was their sole source of income.
