Mahopac, New York – Diane K. Staab, a 62-year-old woman from Mahopac, New York, tragically passed away on the evening of January 13, 2025, after being fatally struck in a head-on collision in New Fairfield, Connecticut.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Ball Pond Road, near the intersection with Harvest Road, close to the New York state line.
Staab was driving her 2017 Jeep Compass southbound when her vehicle unexpectedly veered into the path of a northbound 2024 Hyundai Palisade.
Despite prompt response from emergency services, Staab was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupants of the Hyundai, including the driver and two passengers from New Fairfield, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at Danbury Hospital.
The Connecticut State Police are investigating the cause of the crash, with no immediate determination as of yet.
