Ellie Waas, Raleigh, North Carolina

Raleigh, North Carolina – Ellie Waas, a beloved mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 58.

Her sudden death has left the Raleigh community heartbroken, as she was known for her warmth, generosity, and dedication to those around her.

Ellie was born on April 22, 1966, and spent her entire life in Raleigh, where she made a significant impact on her family, friends, and community.

Her infectious smile and genuine kindness were qualities that endeared her to all who met her.

Ellie was a talented artist and a passionate advocate for local charities and environmental causes, frequently contributing to community projects and events.

She was a proud graduate of Raleigh High School and later earned a degree in communications from North Carolina State University, where she began her career in public relations.

Throughout her professional life, Ellie worked tirelessly to support causes that were dear to her, including mental health initiatives and environmental conservation efforts.

Her love for her children, Sophia and Lucas, was immeasurable, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Ellie is survived by her children, her parents George and Helen Waas, and her extended family, including siblings and many close friends.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Funeral Home in Raleigh, followed by a memorial service on Friday, January 17, 2025, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in Ellie’s honor.

Ellie’s legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
