Pocatello, Idaho – Gerald Nord "Bumps" Pearson, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated community member, passed away on March 5, 2016, at the age of 88 at The Gables of Pocatello from natural causes.
Born on August 22, 1927, in Pocatello, Idaho, Gerald was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a standout athlete in his youth, earning All-State honors in football at Pocatello High School in 1944. After serving in the United States Navy, Gerald returned to Pocatello, where he married Ruth L. Denkers on July 6, 1948, in the Idaho Falls Temple. The couple shared 67 years of marriage and raised six children together.
Gerald’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to open The Family Shoe Store, which became a local staple for many years. He later worked as the Bannock County Assessor and was deeply involved in his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Gerald served in numerous callings, including as a missionary and temple worker.
He was known for his love of the outdoors, including fishing, skiing, and bowling, and his devotion to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, six children, 23 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.
Gerald’s passing has left a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire those who knew him.
