Gianna Solimine, Commack, New York

Commack, New York – Gianna "Gigi" Solimine, an 18-year-old freshman at the University of Mississippi, tragically passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, from a drug overdose.

Her death, ruled a suicide, has deeply shaken both her family and the Ole Miss community.

Solimine, a 2024 graduate of Commack High School, was widely admired for her radiant personality, academic achievements, and active involvement in campus life. At Ole Miss, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Lambda Pi sorority and also participated in the university’s football program.

Her family, friends, and the University of Mississippi have expressed their sorrow following her passing, remembering Gigi for her infectious smile, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel valued.

Despite her outward success and popularity, Gigi faced internal struggles, which ultimately led to her tragic death.

The University of Mississippi has offered support to the grieving community, urging students to prioritize mental health and seek counseling when needed.

Social media tributes have flooded in, with friends and loved ones sharing heartfelt memories of the young woman they described as “one of a kind” and “full of light.”
