Delta, B.C. – Gurvinder Uppal, a 29-year-old resident of Delta, has sadly passed away following a shooting incident on Monday, January 20, 2025.
The Delta Police Department confirmed the victim’s identity and stated that he succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
The shooting occurred early in the morning at approximately 7:15 a.m. at a residence in the 8100 block of 112B Street, near McCloskey Elementary School.
Following the incident, a white Ford pickup truck was seen fleeing the scene. The vehicle was later discovered engulfed in flames in the 7300 block of Blake Drive, leading authorities to believe it may be connected to the shooting.
Investigators have classified the case as a targeted homicide and are handling the investigation with major crime detectives. The department has expressed its condolences to the family of the victim during this difficult time.
This marks the first homicide in Delta in over a year, following a peaceful 2024 in which the city recorded no murders.
Family members have yet to announce details about the memorial service.
