Haley Jarosiewicz, Midland, Michigan

Midland, Michigan – The Midland community is grieving the tragic loss of 17-year-old Haley Jarosiewicz, a beloved student at Midland High School, who passed away in a car accident on Thursday morning, January 23, 2025.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:42 a.m. on East Isabella Road in Homer Township, where icy and snow-covered road conditions contributed to the crash.

Haley, who was driving her 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, lost control of her vehicle, which crossed the centerline and collided with a westbound 2021 Chevrolet Silverado.

Authorities believe speed relative to the icy conditions played a role in the crash.

Despite the best efforts of first responders, Haley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Silverado, a 41-year-old Midland man, sustained only minor injuries and declined treatment at MyMichigan Medical Center.

Haley was an active member of the Midland High School community, participating in Cross Country, Track and Field, Chemic Conditioning, and Student Council.

Her sudden death has left her family, friends, and the entire school devastated.

In a statement, Midland Public Schools Superintendent Penny Miller-Nelson and Principal Tiela Schurman shared their heartfelt condolences, saying, "Haley was a bright spirit who will be deeply missed."

A memorial service for Haley will be held, with details to be shared soon.

The community is encouraged to come together to support Haley’s loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

Authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the crash and remind drivers to exercise caution on winter roads.
