Rochester, New York – The community of Rochester is mourning the loss of Hugh Malcolm Franklin, a beloved son, friend, and gentleman, who passed away at the age of 48 on January 17, 2025, following an 18-month battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Hugh, known for his kindness, generosity, and infectious personality, touched the lives of everyone he met. His unwavering dedication to making others feel valued and loved left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and colleagues.
Born and raised in Rochester, Hugh’s legacy extends far beyond his professional achievements. He was admired for his selflessness, always putting others before himself. "He was a true gentleman," said his father, Hugh Franklin Sr. "His kindness was given freely, and he made sure everyone around him felt respected and cared for."
Throughout his illness, Hugh faced his diagnosis with remarkable grace and resilience, never losing his positive attitude. Even in the face of adversity, his strength and humor shone brightly.
