Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – The Penn Hills School District is mourning the loss of Josh Willy, a beloved teacher who tragically passed away on January 18, 2025, following a car accident.
Josh Willy, a dedicated Social Studies educator and Gifted Coordinator, had been a fixture in the district for over 23 years, shaping the lives of countless students during his tenure.
He taught AP World History and Honors Civics, subjects that inspired students to think critically and engage with the world around them. As the Gifted Coordinator, Josh also played an instrumental role in helping gifted students unlock their full potential.
His death has left a profound void in both the classroom and the community. Superintendent John Mozzocio shared his grief, stating, "Josh was a deeply valued colleague, and his tragic passing is felt by all of us. He was a wonderful teacher, and his work with our high school gifted students was exceptional."
Josh leaves behind a wife and three children. The community has extended its deepest condolences to his family during this difficult time. Counseling services have been made available for students, staff, and families affected by this loss.
