Windsor, New York – Kimberly Root, a cherished mother, friend, and pillar of the Windsor community, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at the age of 48.
Her unexpected death has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew her, yet her legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering commitment to others will continue to inspire those she touched.
Kimberly was born on May 3, 1976, in Binghamton, New York, to Linda and Robert Root. As the youngest of three siblings, she was raised in a home where compassion and community support were central values.
A graduate of Windsor Central High School, Kimberly was known for her leadership, compassion, and determination to make a difference. She later earned a degree in social work from the University of New York at Albany and returned to her hometown to work with local non-profit organizations.
Her career was marked by her work with at-risk youth, local shelters, and food banks. Kimberly was also actively involved in local politics, advocating for policies that supported families and marginalized groups.
A loving mother to her two children, Evan and Sophie, Kimberly poured her heart into raising them, always placing their well-being first. She was also passionate about nature and spent many hours hiking and camping in the beautiful outdoors of upstate New York.
Kimberly’s passing leaves a deep sadness, but her spirit will live on through her contributions to the community and the lasting love she shared with her family.
