Brighton, New York – Lawrence Mancuso, 53, tragically passed away on Friday, January 5, 2025, in a devastating murder-suicide incident that also claimed the lives of his daughter, Anne Mancuso, and his mother-in-law, Mary Liccini.
The incident occurred just before noon on Hollyvale Drive. Police discovered Anne, 11, with gunshot wounds on the porch of a nearby home. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities found the bodies of Lawrence Mancuso and his 74-year-old mother-in-law, Mary Liccini, inside a residence next door.
Lawrence Mancuso, who had served as the assistant dean for human resources at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, had been on leave since October.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support Anne’s mother, Sarah, and other family members during this incredibly difficult time. The Brighton Central School District, where Anne was a sixth grader, is offering counseling services to students and staff.
Mancuso’s passing has left a community in mourning. The district released a statement expressing its heartfelt condolences, saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss. Our thoughts are with the family during this unimaginable time.”
