DeWitt, Michigan – The DeWitt community is mourning the loss of Luke Whitten, a 17-year-old high school ice hockey player who tragically passed away on January 19, 2025.
Luke was a well-known and admired figure at DeWitt High School, where he played for the Varsity Hockey Team. He was recognized for his exceptional skill on the ice, as well as his leadership and sportsmanship. His passion for the sport and unwavering commitment to his team earned him the respect and admiration of his coaches, teammates, and the broader community.
Known for his determination and hard work, Luke’s infectious personality made him a friend to all. He was described as a kind-hearted, hardworking young man who balanced his athletic pursuits with academic responsibilities. His coaches and peers remembered him as a player who always gave his best effort, inspiring others around him.
