Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania – A devastating tragedy unfolded in Westmoreland County, where a family of four was found dead in what authorities believe to be an apparent murder-suicide.
The victims have been identified as 35-year-old Paul Swarner, 32-year-old Karen Swarner, 5-year-old Evelyn Swarner, and 1-year-old Connor Swarner.
Their bodies were discovered on the night of January 24, 2025, at their home on Keck Lane in Hempfield Township.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the call came in around 11:30 p.m. from Karen Swarner’s father, who had conducted a welfare check and discovered the tragic scene.
It is reported that Paul Swarner is believed to have taken the lives of his wife and children before turning the gun on himself.
The last communication anyone had with the family was on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, with no contact on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
Trooper Steve Limani of the Pennsylvania State Police expressed his disbelief, stating, “It’s unthinkable. Unfathomable. To be honest with you I don’t have the words to describe how awful.”
Authorities are investigating the motive behind the tragedy and are exploring all possible avenues, including reviewing surveillance footage for any clues.
