Regina, Saskatchewan – It is with profound sadness that the hockey community mourns the loss of Rob Trumbley, a former player for the Edinburgh Capitals and a beloved ice hockey coach.
Rob, known affectionately as "Trummer," passed away on January 15, 2025.
He was an integral part of the Edinburgh Capitals during the 2001-2002 season in the British National League (BNL), where his impressive on-ice performance captured the admiration of teammates and fans alike.
Over the course of 32 games, Rob scored 13 goals and 26 assists, earning 39 points in total. His 105 penalty minutes that season spoke to his physical style of play and his willingness to stand up for his teammates, regardless of the opposition.
While his presence on the ice was fierce and uncompromising, Rob was equally cherished for his warm and genuine personality off the rink.
He built lifelong friendships with fellow players, coaches, and fans, known for his humility and infectious love for the game.
The Edinburgh Capitals expressed their deep sorrow, writing, “Rob’s legacy as a fearless competitor and an exceptional human being will forever be remembered.”
As the hockey world comes together to remember him, his impact on the sport and the lives of those he touched will never be forgotten.
Rob’s family, friends, and former teammates have our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time.
