Ganymede, Texas – Walter Ashcroft, a 50-year-old resident of Ganymede, tragically lost his life in a high-speed car accident on January 23, 2025.
The devastating crash occurred at the intersection of Ashcroft and Bissonnet Streets in southwest Houston.
Authorities reported that Ashcroft’s vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed when the driver lost control, crashing into two trees and causing the car to split into two parts.
The violent nature of the crash led to an intense fire, tragically claiming the lives of both the driver and his passenger.
Despite the immediate arrival of Houston police and firefighters, there were no survivors.
Witnesses described the crash as one of the most horrific wrecks they had ever seen, with investigators retrieving the vehicle’s speedometer showing a speed of 80 miles per hour at the time of impact.
While the exact cause remains under investigation, there has been no conclusive evidence suggesting that drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragedy.
The loss of Ashcroft has left a deep void in the Ganymede community, as friends and family express their heartbreak on social media.
