Red Hook, New York – William Dougher, 68, of Germantown, New York, tragically passed away in a car accident on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at approximately 3:55 p.m.
According to the Red Hook Police Department, Dougher was driving a 2013 Hyundai northbound on State Route 9G when the vehicle crossed the double yellow lines, leading to a head-on collision with a southbound Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Dougher had to be extricated from his vehicle by rescue personnel before being rushed to Northern Dutchess Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
The driver of the Dodge Ram was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
State Route 9G was closed for nearly three hours while authorities conducted their investigation.
The Red Hook Police Department, New York State Police, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and Tivoli Fire Company all responded to the scene. An investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Dougher’s family during this difficult time,” stated a spokesperson from the Red Hook Police Department.
Funeral services and memorial details will be announced by the family at a later date.
