Ahmed Senyange, Amsterdam— The community is in mourning following the unexpected passing of Ahmed Senyange, a beloved sportsman known for his contributions to Ugandan soccer. He passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Born on December 25, 1974, Ahmed’s legacy spans decades in the world of sports, particularly in football. He was an integral part of KCCA FC, Arua, and the Uganda Cranes (Young Cranes), leaving a lasting impact on Ugandan soccer. Starting his career at KCCA in 1989 after joining from Namilyango College, Ahmed played alongside football legends such as Jackson Mayanja, George Nsimbe, and Sam Simbwa.
Ahmed’s journey took him abroad in 1995 when he moved to the USA, where he spent over a decade before settling in the Netherlands in 2009. Despite his success in the sport, his later years were marked by challenges as he navigated life away from Uganda.
In light of his passing, his family, including his parents Hajji and Hajjat Twaha Damulira of Namayiba, have expressed their wish to bring him home for a dignified farewell. A fundraiser has been set up by Geoffrey Nsereko Simple to cover the costs of repatriating Ahmed’s body to Uganda and ensuring he receives the send-off he deserves. The goal of the fundraiser is $20,000, and every donation is appreciated.
Details about funeral arrangements will be shared at a later time, as his family and community come together to honor his legacy.
Our hearts go out to Ahmed’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We offer our deepest condolences and thoughts to all who knew him.
