Alberto passed away on August 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with gastric cancer. He was a beloved father, brother, friend, and uncle who touched the lives of many through his kindness and dedication.
Alberto Vasquez was known for his generosity and willingness to help others. Jay Vela, one of his colleagues, shared a heartfelt memory on Facebook: “One of my colleagues, Mr. Alberto Vásquez, teacher at Audie Murphy Middle School, has passed away. His family has set up a Go Fund Me to help raise funds for the funeral expenses. Your generosity is greatly appreciated for his family in their time of need. He was the type of person to go out of his way and help others. On a personal note, 4 years ago when I started at Murphy as a floater teacher, Mr. Vásquez was one of the first teachers to offer his classroom to me. ‘If you need to borrow my classroom it’s here for you to use during my conference period’ and even made space for me to keep my belongings in his room. That was the kind and caring person that Mr. Vásquez was and how he will be remembered.”
