Sealy, TX—Alicia Ann Smith Kaatz, a cherished member of the Sealy community, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was 59 years old. Alicia was known for her deep love of family and her vibrant spirit, which touched the lives of many around her.
Born on February 17, 1965, in Houston, Texas, Alicia spent the majority of her life in Sealy, where she was a devoted stay-at-home mother to her four children. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones, especially during family gatherings and holidays filled with laughter and joy. Alicia’s passion for bowling, music, and cheering on her children’s and grandchildren’s sports teams brought her immense happiness throughout her life.
Alicia is survived by her loving husband, Chris Kaatz; her mother, Patricia Teague, and stepfather, Thomas; her two sons, Brett Carter and wife Brittany, and Wesley Goebel and wife Katie; her twin daughters, Julie Murray and husband Kyle, and Jennifer Seabrook and husband Pete; and her eight beloved grandchildren, Case and Crue Carter, Carter and Abbie Goebel, Cheyanne and Judd Murray, and Teddy and Arthur Seabrook. She is also survived by her two brothers, Billy Smith and wife Tammy, and Joe Smith and wife Jennifer, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Margie Adamson, and her uncle, Johnny Adamson.
Alicia’s passing has deeply affected her community, with many expressing their grief and condolences on social media. Judi Galvan Burttschell shared, "We lost my grandkid’s Mimi, Kaatz Alicia, this week. To say we are all saddened is an understatement. She loved life and adored her kids and grandkids. She and I have been through a lot together through the years, and I am going to miss her more than I ever imagined."
