Alwine Klatt, a cherished member of the Vernon, BC community, passed away on August 25th, 2024, just one day after celebrating her 40th wedding anniversary with her beloved husband, Andreas. Alwine, who had bravely battled cancer, leaves behind a large and loving family, including her husband, their six children, and 14 grandchildren.
Alwine and Andreas moved to Canada 18 years ago and made a life in the Okanagan, where they raised their children and built a close-knit community. In 2021, Alwine was diagnosed with cancer but was declared cancer-free after treatment. However, her health began to decline again in the spring of 2024. Despite taking a leave from work to focus on recovery, her condition worsened, leading to her hospitalization in July. Sadly, after a month in the hospital, she passed away, leaving her family and friends in deep mourning.
A fundraiser has been organized by Josef Sartison to assist the Klatt family with unexpected funeral expenses and other costs. As of now, $700 CAD has been raised out of a $30,000 goal, with donations coming from five generous contributors. The family is deeply grateful for the support and prayers from the community during this difficult time.
Alwine will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
We offer our heartfelt prayers to the Klatt family. May God grant them strength and comfort in this time of grief.
