Anabela Marques, Barrie, ON — The community is mourning the loss of Anabela Marques, who passed away recently. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend, remembered for her incredible strength, compassion, and infectious smile.

Her husband, Fernando Marques, and their three children, Susana, Kevin, and Diana, are deeply affected by her passing. Anabela was a devoted wife of 45 years and a loving mother. She is also survived by her parents, Miguel and Fatima, her grandchildren Joanna, Nicole, and Natalie, and her great-grandchildren Ava and Matteo.

Anabela was diagnosed nearly two years ago with stage 4 colorectal cancer. Despite enduring months of chemotherapy and numerous hospital admissions, she remained resilient and courageous. Sadly, her battle came to an end at Royal Victoria Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, with her family by her side.

Anabela’s kindness and thoughtfulness touched everyone she met. She always prioritized others, and her smile and laughter brought joy to those around her. When she and Fernando moved from Portugal many years ago, they established a successful business. Since her diagnosis, Fernando has worked tirelessly to support their family and business.

A fundraiser organized by her daughter, Diana Marques, has been launched to support funeral arrangements and help the family during this difficult time. The goal is to raise $5,000 CAD, and the community is encouraged to contribute and offer their support.
