Angela Denise Rannie, a beautiful 15-year-old from Staten Island, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14, 2024, due to complications related to Sickle Cell Anemia. The tragic loss has deeply impacted her family, friends, and the entire school community. Angela, described as having a “heart of gold,” was adored by all who knew her, especially her grandmother, little brother Matthew, and cousin Ayanah.
Angela’s passing has left her family in urgent need of financial support to cover the costs of her funeral and burial. A fundraiser organized by Vita Percoco has been established to help the family during this difficult time. So far, $25 has been raised towards the $16,000 goal, with Robin McGill being the first to contribute.
Angela’s grandmother, who adopted both her and her younger brother Matthew, is currently struggling with health issues while also caring for two other minor children, one of whom suffers from Juvenile Diabetes. The family’s circumstances have made this loss even more devastating, as they were not financially prepared for such a heartbreaking event.
Angela was a sophomore at Susan Wagner High School and was a former student at IS 51, where her brother and cousin currently attend. Her dream was to become a registered nurse to help others suffering from Sickle Cell Anemia, just as she did. Despite her illness, Angela remained strong, always caring for her younger brother and cousin, who affectionately called her “Mama.” Her maturity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
The viewing hours and Home Going Service for Angela will be held at Reach Out Church and Church Ministries, located at 51 Cottage Place, Staten Island, NY. The viewing is scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4-7 PM, and Friday, September 27, 2024, from 9-10 AM, followed by a Home Going Service from 10-11 AM. The burial will immediately follow.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Rannie family and all who knew and loved Angela. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly difficult time. May Angela’s memory be a blessing, and may her family find comfort and strength in the outpouring of love and support from the community.
