Angelique Witmer, Tallahassee, FL— Angelique Witmer tragically passed away on November 11th, 2024, alongside her son, Gavin Witmer, while en route to perform in the Veteran’s Day parade in downtown Tallahassee. The loss has left the community and her family devastated.
Angelique, a talented musician, was known for her unwavering support of her son’s musical aspirations. She, Gavin, and their husband and father, Mark, frequently played music together at home and attended numerous concerts, sharing a love for music that bonded them deeply.
Gavin, a bright student and drum major at Rickards High School, was a multi-instrumentalist and a leader among his peers. He had dreams of studying music performance and eventually becoming a jazz musician and band director. Together, Angelique and Gavin nurtured each other’s musical passions, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew them.
In honor of their memory, a fundraiser has been set up by Elana Soper to establish the Angelique and Gavin Witmer Memorial Scholarship, aimed at supporting talented seniors in the Rickards High School Marching Band. The scholarship will serve as a lasting tribute to their contributions to music and their community.
The Witmer family’s sorrow is immense, but their dedication to preserving Angelique and Gavin’s legacy through this scholarship brings hope that future generations of musicians will benefit from their love for music.
Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the Witmer family during this incredibly difficult time.
