Anita Figueroa De Carachure, Santa Barbara, CA—The community mourns the loss of Anita Figueroa De Carachure, who passed away on August 4th, 2024, at the age of 79 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Anita’s struggle began in October 2023, when she was diagnosed with cancer in her lymph nodes and lungs. Her condition worsened due to a severe pneumonia that halted her chemotherapy treatments, allowing the cancer to spread throughout her body.
Anita was born in Corral Falso, Guerrero, and moved to the United States in 1988 with her six children in pursuit of a better life. Known for her resilience and determination, she faced numerous challenges head-on, guided by her deep Catholic faith, which provided her with strength and gratitude throughout her life.
As a grandmother, Anita was cherished for her warm and loving nature. Her grandchildren fondly remember her affectionate hugs and the tears of joy she shed during their visits. Anita was also a creative spirit, skilled in making party decorations, knitting, hairstyling, arranging flowers, and nurturing her beloved plants. She was widely respected for her kindness and always blessed her visitors to ensure their safe return.
Anita is survived by her six children and fifteen grandchildren who adored her deeply. Her family faces the heartbreaking task of covering funeral expenses and arranging for her return to Guerrero, where she hoped to be laid to rest alongside her parents and husband, who passed away just fifteen years prior.
A fundraiser organized by Andrea Leon and Adrian Fierros has been set up to help with these costs. So far, $345 has been raised out of the $6,500 goal, with contributions from twelve donors, including a generous $100 from Antonio Carreno.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Anita Figueroa De Carachure. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
