Anita Petersen, a cherished member of the Round Rock, TX community, passed away on October 5, 2024. Her vibrant presence, marked by her contagious smile and tireless dedication to helping others, is deeply missed by family, friends, and the many communities she touched through her volunteer efforts.
Anita was well-known for her charitable work. Whether it was cleaning cages and socializing rabbits at the Bunny House or raising funds for Dell Children’s Medical Center through Extra Life gaming events, her selflessness and commitment to helping those in need were always evident. During school seasons, she also dedicated her time to supporting her nephew’s marching band.
Her passion for life extended beyond her volunteer work. She was an avid fan of festivities and costumes, often spending weekends at the Sherwood Forest Faire, where she was known for her love of glitter and playful spirit. Anita’s love for pinball and video games introduced her to a large circle of friends, especially through her involvement in playing Killer Queen at Pinballz.
Anita’s creativity was also seen in her professional life at Trellis in Round Rock, where she was known for her organizational skills and her knack for turning everyday tasks into moments of fun. She was not only a trusted advisor to her colleagues but also a friend who brought joy to the workplace.
In her family, Anita was affectionately known as the "wild child," always finding ways to make ordinary moments special. Her laughter and humor provided much-needed comic relief, even in difficult family situations. Her thoughtfulness and free spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by her sister, Leigh Petersen, to help support the Petersen family during this challenging time. The funds will go toward celebration of life events in both Texas and Nebraska, family travel, and estate expenses. Any remaining donations will be equally divided between Extra Life and the Bunny House, two causes close to Anita’s heart.
To honor Anita’s memory, friends and family are encouraged to use the hashtag #InspiredByAnita when engaging in fun or whimsical activities, a tribute to the joy and spontaneity that Anita embodied.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Petersen family during this difficult time. Anita will forever be remembered for her kindness, humor, and unwavering support for others.
