Arthur Layman, lovingly known as "Artie" to those close to him, passed away early this morning, leaving his family and community heartbroken. Artie had been hospitalized for the past seven months due to complications from a preventative endoscopy procedure that tragically led to his passing.
He was a devoted husband and father, always there to support his wife, Laura, and their children. Artie was cherished for his generosity and was the go-to person in times of need, constantly putting others before himself. His sudden loss has left his family facing not only the emotional toll but also the financial burden of medical expenses and funeral costs. Laura now bears the heavy responsibility of managing these financial challenges alone.
A fundraiser, organized by Nicole Carroll on behalf of Artie’s daughter, Ashleigh Layman, is underway to help alleviate some of the financial strain. As of today, $1,525 has been raised out of a $15,000 goal, thanks to the kindness of donors like Audrey Toro, Toni Locascio, and Brianna Borrelli.
Artie was more than just a provider; he was a man with a goofy soul, known for his love of camping, his beloved (and sometimes frustrating) dogs, and his hidden love for the Backstreet Boys. His playful spirit and golden heart will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Services to honor Artie’s life will take place tomorrow, September 21, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Maloney Funeral Home, located at 130 Carleton Ave, Central Islip, NY.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the Layman family during this incredibly difficult time. We pray that they find peace and comfort, and we hold them in our hearts as they navigate the days ahead.
