Arthur Lloyd Anderson, known to friends and family as Artie, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, in his hometown of Rapid City, South Dakota. He was 70 years old. Artie’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him, as he was a kind, generous, and selfless individual whose life touched many.
Artie was born on February 25, 1954, to the late Lloyd and Anna (Elizabeth) Anderson. He was a proud graduate of Rapid City Central High School and dedicated many years of service to his community, initially with Harvey Construction and later at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends.
Survived by his brothers Monte, Sherry Freeman, and David "Butch" Anderson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, Artie leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He was preceded in death by his brother Larry Anderson and his parents.
A true outdoorsman, Artie found joy in fishing the serene lakes and streams of the Black Hills. His infectious smile and hearty laughter could brighten anyone’s day. He was known for his good nature, his fun-loving spirit, and his ability to bring people together. His favorite songs, "Oh Lord, It’s Hard to Be Humble" and "Fishing in the Dark," reflect the lighthearted nature that Artie was known for.
His family has established a fundraising effort to help with memorial costs, and the community has rallied around them with support. Those who were fortunate enough to know Artie will forever remember him for the joy and warmth he shared.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Artie’s family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
