Bernard was on disability and had experienced financial difficulties, which unfortunately led to his life insurance lapsing.
His daughter, Kiera Pennymon, has organized a fundraiser to cover the costs of his cremation and a memorial service. So far, $800 has been raised towards the $10,000 goal through the generosity of five donors. Contributions have come from Wesleyan Smith, an anonymous donor, Lavinia Turner, another anonymous donor, and Adrianna Boyer.
