Bev Serafica, San Jose, CA— Bev Serafica, an incredibly talented pianist, music teacher, and 2023 USDAA Grand Prix of Dog Agility National Champion, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Her death has left the community reeling, as Bev had been a mentor to many, both in music and dog agility, yet kept her own struggles with mental health private.
Her unexpected passing has left a deep impact on her family, particularly her long-time partner Julie Abbott, and their children, Quentin (13) and Claire (11). Bev’s friends and students, as well as the wider agility and music communities, are devastated by the loss.
A fundraiser has been launched by Anne Kajava to honor Bev’s legacy and support the causes close to her heart. The funds will be used to support the care of Bev’s beloved dogs, Pixie and Jedi, and provide bereavement counseling for her children. Additionally, donations will go to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, reflecting Bev’s love for animals, and to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where Bev had studied and later taught, helping to fund scholarships for aspiring musicians in need.
Bev’s contributions to her community, her passion for both music and animals, and the love she shared with her family and friends will forever be remembered.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bev’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
