His service to his country began on November 25, 1968, when he was drafted into the Army. Bill served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1970.
In recognition of his service, Bill participated in the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight 50 on May 1, 2024, which provided veterans the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., and honor their contributions.
