Brandon M. Norbryhn, Running Springs, CA—The community is deeply mourning the unexpected loss of Brandon M. Norbryhn, who passed away on September 23rd, 2024. Brandon was known for his dedication to public service, his love for his family, and his numerous talents, including piloting and woodworking.
Brandon was commuting to work for the Bureau of Land Management in Riverside from his home in Running Springs early on Monday when he tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on Highway 18. Despite his cautious nature as a rider, unforeseen circumstances led to this heartbreaking event.
He is survived by his wife Andrella, son Killian, and stepdaughter Anna. Brandon also leaves behind his parents, Cathie and Charlie, his brothers Scott and Rob, his sisters Sarah and Shauna, along with their spouses and children. His untimely passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Brandon’s passion for life extended to his many hobbies and his commitment to his career. He held a pilot’s license, enjoyed woodworking, and was building a boat in his spare time. His love for family was evident in the time he spent playing video games with his son, Killian, and sharing joyful moments with his loved ones.
He began his career as a Paid Call Firefighter at the Running Springs Fire Department while attending college. His journey in public service continued as he transitioned to the Forest Service, where he worked as a Big Bear Hot Shot and later at the Helitac at Heaps Peak. His deep connection to the Helitac led him to propose to his wife at the Helibase. Most recently, Brandon was transitioning to the role of Assistant Intelligence Coordinator for the Bureau of Land Management.
A fundraiser organized by Molly Norbryhn has been set up to support the family during this difficult time. The community has rallied together, raising funds to cover memorial expenses and to assist Brandon’s family as they navigate this profound loss. Donations from well-wishers such as Nannette Milligan, John Weber, Jason Guffey, Amie Crowder, and Ashley Sanchez are pouring in, reflecting the impact Brandon had on those around him.
Friends and community members have taken to social media to share their grief and memories of Brandon. Joy Kelley wrote, "Monday was one of the hardest days we’ve had, our hearts hurt so much. Brandon was one of the first friends I made when I came from Chile to work at Snow Valley 18 years ago. He was Kenny’s best friend and an amazing human being. His laugh was contagious, and his in-depth knowledge of the most random things was always mesmerizing. Words can’t describe the pain of no longer having him in our lives." Ashleigh Kelley shared, “I am so sorry for your guys loss! So heartbreaking. Brandon was such a nice person!” Deborah Kanegsberg added, “I’m so sorry for your loss. So unexpected and awful. Sending you both big hugs…”
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Brandon M. Norbryhn. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this challenging time.
