Candice Lee Shannahan Seager, a Vietnam veteran and a well-respected member of her community, passed away recently at the age of 69. Her son, John Seager, is organizing a fundraiser to fulfill her last wishes—to be cremated and laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, alongside her husband, also a Navy veteran.
Candice Lee Seager had an impactful life, both personally and professionally. She served her country as an AC3 in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and later devoted herself to the field of alternative medicine. She founded Full Circle Wellness in Westcliffe, Colorado, serving Custer and Fremont counties with a range of services, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, Reiki, and massage therapy. Her expertise extended to a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and a Doctorate in Naturology, among other certifications. Her life’s mission was to promote holistic health in her community.
Candice’s health began to decline after suffering a stroke in January 2023, which severely affected her speech and mobility. Despite battling multiple strokes and setbacks, she demonstrated remarkable resilience and strength in her fight to regain her ability to walk. Sadly, her health continued to worsen, and she spent her final months in a nursing home, where she lost much of what she had worked so hard to achieve.
John Seager has now launched a GoFundMe campaign to help honor his mother’s final wishes. The fundraiser is seeking support to cover the costs of her cremation and burial at Arlington National Cemetery, as her medical coverage will not provide for these expenses. The family is hopeful that Candice will be awarded the flag she earned for her service.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to John Seager, his family, and all those who knew Candice. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory live on through the lives she touched.
