Carl Martin, Mandan, ND—Carl Martin passed away earlier this month, leaving his family and community heartbroken. Diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer just weeks ago, Carl’s battle was unexpectedly short, and he passed away on August 14th. The news of his diagnosis had barely reached his loved ones before his sudden passing.
Carl, who was 77, had also battled diabetes for many years. Due to the advanced stage of his cancer and his age, he was not eligible for surgery. Despite hopes that chemotherapy and immunotherapy could extend his life by five years, his condition worsened rapidly.
The loss of Carl comes just months after the family endured another tragedy—the passing of his son, Cameron Martin, in May. This double loss has placed a significant emotional and financial burden on Carl’s surviving children, Maria Martin and Chad Garcia.
Maria Martin has organized a fundraiser to help cover the costs of Carl’s burial and memorial services, as well as the remaining expenses from Cameron’s funeral. Despite receiving funeral assistance, the funds only cover Carl’s cremation, leaving a substantial amount still needed to provide him with a proper memorial.
As of now, $75 has been raised out of the $10,000 goal, with three donations from the community. Supporters like Ashley Fransen, Ginger Shearer, and an anonymous donor have contributed, and the family is grateful for any further donations or prayers during this difficult time.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of Carl Martin. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate through this time of grief and loss.
