Carson C. Nelson, Aberdeen, SD— It is with profound sadness that we report the tragic passing of Carson C. Nelson, who left us far too soon. Carson’s untimely death has left an immense void in the lives of his loved ones, particularly his parents, Chad and Jill Nelson, and his brother, Austin Nelson.
Born on February 22, 2004, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD, Carson grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Aberdeen Christian School in 2022. Known for his vibrant personality and infectious smile, Carson was deeply loved by his family and friends. He enjoyed a variety of activities, including hunting, fishing, farming, and working with cattle. He was passionate about history and had a special bond with his dog, Dutch.
Carson was actively involved in his community, having worked for Dakotascape Outdoor Design and most recently for the Rivett Group. His commitment to service led him to enlist in the National Guard on April 1, 2024, where he served as a Fire Control Specialist with the A Battery 1/147th Field Artillery.
In the wake of this devastating loss, Sara Arbach has organized a fundraiser to help Carson’s family with unexpected medical and memorial expenses not covered by insurance. The fundraiser has raised $1,745 out of a $10,000 goal, with contributions from 15 donors. Among the generous supporters are Jeff Thomas with a recent donation of $100, Jennifer Rivett with the top donation of $500, and Brenda Arbach with the first donation of $50.
Carson’s love for life, his family, and his friends was evident in everything he did. His playful nature, love for adventures, and ability to bring joy to those around him will be deeply missed. The community’s outpouring of support and sympathy during this difficult time is a testament to the impact Carson had on those who knew him.
