Charles, 46, had served in both the Navy and Army, participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Ensuring Freedom before being medically discharged with a 100% disability rating through the VA. Later in life, he pursued his passion for horses, running a small dude ranch in northern Arizona where he led guided horseback riding tours at the Grand Canyon.
The heartbreaking news was shared by Amberly Hash, the mother of Charles’ two oldest sons, on social media. Amberly expressed her deep sorrow and concern for their children, who have not seen their father since the summer of 2021. In her post, she wrote, "I’ve been up and down all night wrestling with this news… My heart aches not for me, but for my children that now have to live with his devastating choices being fatal."
Amberly has set up a GoFundMe to assist with mortuary expenses and to fly Charles’ children out for his burial. She explained, "I am opening this GoFundMe in hopes of raising money to help his mother out with mortuary expenses and expenses to fly his children out for his burial. We are still working out the details as to where this will be."
