Cheng Chan, Oakland, CA— It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cheng Chan, who passed away on November 29th, 2024, at the age of 65. Cheng tragically collapsed on his way home after picking up a prescription from Walgreens and was pronounced deceased by EMTs and the Oakland Fire Department.
For the past six to seven years, Cheng had been battling severe health issues, including diabetes, a stroke, and kidney failure, which required him to undergo dialysis three times a week. These health struggles made it impossible for him to work, and during this challenging time, his family stood by him, providing unwavering support and care.
In light of this loss, his family, particularly his sister Sovanna Chan, has set up a fundraiser to help cover the memorial expenses and provide support during this incredibly difficult time. As of today, $230 has been raised from 11 donations, including a generous contribution of $50 from Chanda Mau.
Cheng’s family and friends are deeply touched by the outpouring of support from the community. Their thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this heartbreaking moment.
Rest in peace, Cheng Chan. You will always be in the hearts of those who loved you.
