Chevy Book, Jonesville, LA—It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chevy Book’s passing after a devastating house fire on October 2, 2024. Chevy, a beloved husband to Emily Book and stepfather to Dakota, Ashton, and Noah, was tragically lost in the fire along with his son Noah.
The fire, which started in the early hours of the morning, left no time for rescue. Chevy heroically ensured his wife Emily’s safety by guiding her through their bedroom window after the front door became inaccessible due to the flames. Despite his efforts to reach Noah, who was in his room at the time, the fire and smoke overwhelmed them both. Clinging to each other, Chevy and Noah took their final breaths together.
Emily, Dakota, and Ashton are left not only grieving the profound loss of their husband and father but also the destruction of their home and all their belongings. The community has come together, organizing a fundraiser to support the family through these difficult times. Sara Erickson, on behalf of her sister Emily, created the GoFundMe with a goal of raising $15,000 to cover funeral expenses and assist the family in rebuilding their lives.
Generous contributions have already started to flow in. Among the supporters are Eula Elliott and Lily Wilson, who have each donated $20, and an anonymous donor who contributed $25. The community’s prayers and donations are essential in offering some solace as Emily and the boys begin the long journey of healing and rebuilding.
Our deepest condolences go out to Emily, Dakota, Ashton, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss. We pray for peace and strength for the Book family in the days ahead.
