Chris Redman, a beloved member of the Tucson community, passed away unexpectedly on July 6, 2024, due to coronary atherosclerosis. His sudden departure has left his family, friends, and loved ones in deep grief. Chris was just shy of his 43rd birthday.
Chris was a cherished figure, known for his kindness and willingness to help others. Born on August 26, 1981, in Boulder, Colorado, Chris moved to Tucson in 1984 with his mother, Denise Geck, and his stepfather, Greg Redman, who loved him as his own son. Chris attended Sabino High School, graduating in 2000, and later pursued a career in automotive mechanics at WyoTech. His dedication to his work saw him certified in Toyota, Ford, and Lexus before he joined the Army in 2010.
Despite the challenges he faced, including injuries sustained during boot camp, Chris returned to Tucson, where he continued his work as a mechanic. In 2018, he met Kate Lamkin, and they quickly formed a deep bond. Chris also became a father figure to Kate’s son, Chase, whom he loved dearly.
In the wake of Chris’s sudden passing, his family has been struggling with the financial burden of his funeral expenses, as Chris did not have life insurance. To assist with these costs, a GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Kate Lamkin. So far, $25 has been raised out of the $7,500 goal.
The community has shown an outpouring of support on social media. Kate Demorotski Lamkin shared her deep connection to Chris, stating, "Chris was a huge part of Chase’s and my life for so many years, as is the entire Redman family. From the minute Chris and I met, his family welcomed Chase and me and made us their family as well."
Other friends and community members have also expressed their condolences. Mark Bousquet offered his deepest sympathies to the family, while Monica Arrieta sent her heartfelt condolences to Kate and Chris’s loved ones. Laura Buckelew and Kim Demorotski also shared their sorrow and offered prayers for the family during this difficult time.
Chris’s funeral mass is scheduled for August 24th, and his ashes will be laid to rest on what would have been his 43rd birthday, August 26th.
Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Chris Redman. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends, and we pray for their strength and comfort during this challenging time.
