Christopher Ryan Melancon, 40, of Cankton, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 12, 2024, following a devastating hit and run accident. The accident occurred late Friday night, October 11, or in the early morning hours of Saturday near the intersection of Hwy. 93 and Vatican Road, where Christopher was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. The driver fled the scene, leaving Christopher with fatal injuries. He was transported to Lafayette General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Christopher leaves behind three daughters, aged 10, 12, and 20. Tragically, his 20-year-old daughter is expecting her first child, meaning Christopher’s first grandchild will never have the opportunity to meet him. Christopher’s death has left his family facing immense emotional and financial challenges. With no insurance policies in place, the family has turned to the community for assistance in covering funeral costs and helping his daughters find closure after this heartbreaking event.
Tammy Vincent has organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Christopher’s funeral expenses. At the time of writing, the fundraiser has received a $50 donation from Brad Domingue. Any contributions, no matter the amount, are deeply appreciated as the family seeks to honor Christopher’s memory and support his children during this incredibly difficult time.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Christopher’s family and loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this tragic loss.
