Clement Emmanuel Lejuez, Sint Maarten Community Mourns Beloved Volunteer

Clement Emmanuel Lejuez—It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Clement Emmanuel Lejuez, a cherished member of the Sint Maarten community. Born on the island of Sint Maarten, Clement was deeply involved in various community activities, including the local scouts, outdoor excursions, and his volunteer work with the White and Yellow Cross. His dedication to helping others extended into his Christian faith, where he was an active member of the church and spent his time sharing God’s message with those around him.

Clement had battled a severe case of diabetes for years, which resulted in the loss of part of his right leg and later caused his kidneys to fail. His illness progressively limited his ability to remain active in the community, and in his quest for better medical care, he relocated to the Netherlands. However, by the time he arrived, his condition had significantly worsened. Clement had two unfulfilled dreams—recovering his health and experiencing snow—but sadly, neither dream could come true.

Despite his weakening health, Clement held onto one last wish: to return to his beloved Soualigan soil, Sint Maarten, for his final resting place. His desire to be laid to rest in the land where he was born is a testament to his love for his home and the community that he held so dear.

Clement passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and service. His last words expressed gratitude for the support he had received and reassured those around him that he was at peace. A fundraiser, organized by Samanta Flanders, has been set up to help bring Clement home to Sint Maarten for his burial. The community is being called upon to assist in making his final wish a reality. With the ongoing delays in the burial schedule on the island, additional funds are needed to cover the growing costs.
