Cooper Christopher Bradny passed away on October 19th, 2024, surrounded by his loving parents, Kristen and Steve, as well as his grandparents. After a courageous fight that spanned nearly a year in the NICU, Cooper’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and supported his family.
Cooper was born on December 9th, 2023, following a difficult pregnancy. His mother, Kristen, experienced complications when her water broke just shy of 22 weeks. Though doctors initially gave little hope for Cooper’s survival, the expert care at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital allowed him to fight against overwhelming odds. Kristen was able to carry him for four more critical weeks, and Cooper proved to be a fighter from the moment he was born, enduring multiple surgeries to repair his heart while on a ventilator due to his underdeveloped lungs.
Despite the strength Cooper showed, spending 315 days in the NICU with his parents by his side every day, his body could no longer continue the battle. His smile, a beacon of hope for his parents, will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know his story.
Kristen and Steve stayed at the Ronald McDonald House to remain close to Cooper throughout his time in the hospital. Their experience, both heartwarming and heartbreaking, has inspired the family to encourage donations to the Ronald McDonald House, which supported them during this difficult journey. A GoFundMe has been set up by Julie Majcher to help offset the hospital bills and funeral costs, easing the financial burden during their grieving process.
As the Bradny family returns home, they face the long road of healing from the loss of their precious son. The community has shown immense support, with donations pouring in to help them in their time of need. Hannah Wamble made a generous contribution of $500, as did Julie and Jacob Lambert.
Our hearts go out to the Bradny family during this time of unimaginable sorrow. May Cooper’s memory live on in the love and kindness shared in his name. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Kristen, Steve, and their entire family. May they find comfort and peace as they navigate through this painful journey.
