This condition led to the amputation of half of her right foot on July 18th, after it became infected with maggots and caused a septic infection.
Despite the hospital’s best efforts with antibiotics, Cordelia’s kidneys were severely damaged. On July 29th, all life-sustaining medications were discontinued, and she was sent home with hospice care. Lisa Hughes, devastated by the rapid decline in her mother’s health, is now faced with the unexpected and high costs of planning Cordelia’s funeral.
A fundraiser has been organized by Lisa Hughes to assist with the funeral costs.
