Dave Boyles, a beloved member of the Kurri Kurri community and one of the founders of the annual Mystery Ride, sadly passed away on November 1, 2024, in a tragic accident. Known for his dedication to the local riding community, Dave had gathered over 70 riders early Friday morning to participate in the cherished event, which he organized each year with his family. Tragically, the ride took a devastating turn just a few hours after it began.
Around 12:30 pm, an unexpected oil spill on the road led to a severe accident involving five riders. Despite quick responses, Dave was unable to survive, passing away at the scene. He leaves behind his loving wife, Rhonda, and two sons, Jack and Reece, who are now left to navigate the overwhelming burden of organizing his funeral.
In honor of Dave’s memory and to support his family along with others impacted by the accident, a fundraiser has been organized by Allan James. The goal is to raise funds not only to cover Dave’s funeral expenses but also to assist the other four riders who sustained severe injuries. The funds will be shared among the families to support medical bills, daily expenses, and the prolonged recovery journeys of those involved.
The Kurri Kurri community and fellow riders are encouraged to contribute to the fundraiser as a show of solidarity and support for the affected families. Currently, $100 has been raised out of a $10,000 goal.
Our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with the Boyles family and all those impacted. May Dave’s spirit live on through the Mystery Ride, and may his loved ones find strength in the support surrounding them.
