David Andrew Wagner, a resident of Lake Arrowhead, CA, passed away on October 27, 2024, leaving his family, friends, and community in deep mourning. David, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left an unforgettable legacy of love, kindness, and resilience that touched everyone who knew him.
David’s journey to the hospital began with flu-like symptoms fifteen days prior to his passing, leading to an unexpected diagnosis of stage 4 B-Cell Lymphoma. Despite the devoted efforts of the medical team, his condition deteriorated, culminating in a stroke and brain bleed. Placed on life support, David’s family surrounded him, ensuring he felt their presence and love in his final hours. Upholding his wishes to avoid suffering, his family decided on comfort care, where he peacefully passed with them by his side.
David’s life was one of perseverance. He was a survivor of two Acoustic Neuroma surgeries, enduring complications from a young age that made each step forward a remarkable feat. Nonetheless, he lived with immense positivity, striving to fulfill his dreams and provide for his family. Known for his hardworking nature, David took on multiple jobs to ensure a better life for his loved ones, often working graveyard shifts to support his children’s education.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jena, a cherished father to his sons Michael and Matthew, and a loving grandfather to his grandson Ryland. David’s bond with Ryland was particularly special, spending countless hours together in his workshop, where he shared his love and wisdom. As a friend, he was always ready to lend a hand, whether for a hike, a listening ear, or assistance with a project. David’s kindness extended beyond his immediate circle, providing support for a young boy in Africa in hopes of helping him achieve a college education.
David’s love of sports connected him with friends and family alike, cheering passionately for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Cowboys. His home was also filled with the companionship of his pets, especially Lucy, Sierra, Bess, Tommy, and his newly adopted Great Pyrenees, Spirit, all of whom he adored.
Born in Akron, Ohio, to Sunny Fletcher and Jack Williams, David grew up surrounded by a loving family, including the Williams and Blubaughs. His adoptive father, Edward Wagner, played an essential role in his life, providing support through David’s health challenges. David held a deep connection with his family roots in Ohio, visiting frequently and cherishing the time spent with them.
In tribute to his life, Michael Wagner has created a memorial fund with a goal of $15,000 to cover the costs of David’s celebration of life and memorial services. A mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, followed by a gathering at Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, where family and friends will honor his memory and the love he shared.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Wagner family and all who mourn the loss of David. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
