David Francisco, Minneapolis, MN—Community Grieves Loss of Beloved Father

David Francisco, affectionately known as Kanguro by his loved ones, passed away on October 11 at 12:45 a.m. after battling a severe infection, identified as pneumonia, which led to organ failure. His passing has left a deep void for those who knew him, especially his young son Jonathan.

For about a week before his death, David believed he was suffering from a bad cold. Despite feeling increasingly unwell, he continued caring for his nine-year-old son, ensuring Jonathan got to and from school. Jonathan had decided a year ago to live with his father full-time, and David was determined to fulfill his responsibilities as a dad, even as his condition worsened.

On October 9, David made sure Jonathan was safe at his mother’s house before going to the hospital, where his health rapidly declined. His family was contacted after he was admitted to the intensive care unit, thanks to David listing Jonathan’s grandmother as his emergency contact years prior. Though his medical team did everything possible to save him, David was unable to recover. In his final moments, he was surrounded by loved ones, able to hear his son Jonathan tell him he loved him one last time.

David, known for his humor and joyful spirit, brought laughter to those around him every day. His playful personality shined through, whether dressing up as Santa for Jonathan’s first Christmas or carefully styling his hair before heading out. His passing is a tremendous loss for his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A fundraiser organized by Berenize Mendez-Perez has been set up to help with funeral and medical expenses, as well as to support Jonathan during this difficult time. David’s family appreciates all forms of support, be it through donations, sharing the message, or offering prayers and healing energy.
