Doua Thor, Sacramento, CA—With heavy hearts, the community mourns the loss of Doua Thor, who passed away on July 27th. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, remembered for her resilience, kindness, and dedication to her family.
Doua Thor’s journey began in Laos before she moved to the United States in 1991, achieving her dream of becoming an American citizen. She faced many challenges, including running from Vietnam soldiers during the war. Despite these hardships, she dedicated her life to supporting her 12 children, 36 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren alongside her husband. She was known for her role as a housewife, always prioritizing her family’s well-being.
In 2010, Doua was diagnosed with acute diabetes and suffered a minor stroke in 2022. Despite her efforts to regain strength through rehabilitation, her health continued to decline, and she passed away surrounded by her loved ones.
Mary Yang has organized a GoFundMe to assist with the funeral and memorial expenses, raising $220 of the $20,000 goal so far, with generous donations from Ilene Vue ($200) and Mary Yang ($20).
