Dwight Downer, Bronx, NY— Dwight Downer, a retired New York City Correction Officer and dedicated football coach, passed away tragically on November 28, 2024, following a fatal incident outside his home in the Bronx. Dwight’s sudden passing has left the community in deep mourning, as he was well-known for his role as a mentor to young athletes and for his contributions to both the Correctional Officers’ community and the youth football programs in the area.

Dwight served as a Correction Officer for nearly 30 years and was a cherished member of the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association (COBA). After retiring, he continued to give back to his community by volunteering as a football coach at Dewitt Clinton High School and the Bronx Buccaneers for six years.
