Despite seeking help from various doctors, his condition worsened, and his mental health deteriorated over the past two years. On November 9, 2024, Ed made the difficult decision to attempt to take his life, ultimately leading to his critical condition. His children, Hailey and Kyle Papendick, made the heartbreaking choice to place him on comfort care, allowing him to pass peacefully.
